I’m very interested in what you make and i would like to know if you have any locations here in Rochester Hills? The way i found out about your merchandise was heart warming because my mother had brought me a teddy bear when I was getting surgery in the hospital and I was 39 years old at the time and now I’m 40 and believe it or not she brought him into the hospital for me and said your aunt said its always nice to cuddle up to something warm after you come out of surgery and I wanted to say thank you!! and I still have him today and When ever i go to the hospital I take him with me
Hi,
Thanks for letting us know how much you like Teddy Bears. Please tell us where Rochester Hills is. What’s the zip code?
Thanks.
Hi!
I am happy to tell you that since July 22, 2011 I have been collecting teddy bears, having them professionally cleaned, and through permission from the Board of Directors at our hospital, I am giving them to the Emergency Room to give to sick or injured children. I don’t know how much money I have spent buying bears. It isn’t about the money. Sometimes people contribute teddies and I have also been given monetary contributions. My brother in law asked me how long I will do this. I told him that as long as God puts teddy bears in my hands, I will continue this ministry God put in my heart. I wrote a poem entitled Nan’s good will bears to go along with the bear. I have given several Mary Meyer teddy bears. They are beautiful bears and I am honored and humbled that God is using me in this capacity. Since July, 250 teddy bears have been given to sick children and adults who come through the ER with Alzheimer’s or Dementia who can relate to this soft, cuddly comfort. This morning, I am cleaning bears for delivery tomorrow and I have a Mary Meyer in my lap as I type this message. It is a 2007 honey colored bear. You can visit http://www.wordchimes.com to read the poem and my blog nansgoodwillbears.blogspot.com to read stories, see photos of many of the teddies. Also, if you go to Iredellmemorial.org and click on News Release, you can read an article about the teddy bears and how God uses people and teddy bears to provide comfort to others in need of this very special, cuddly bundle of love.
Just want you to know how God is using your teddies to provide comfort today. Bless you and thank you so very much for making these beautiful teddies!!
Hi Nan,
We are happy that you have given some Mary Meyer bears a new and important role to play while people are sick or injured. It is our hope that you can continue this for a long time. I read some of your links. Please send me your address and occasionally we may be able to help you with your mission.
Just wanted to share a website with you for families. They are also looking for Baka Bakus or people to tell them where they can find them. This animal seems to have really made an impression on a lot of people over the years. Please make them again…even a limited edition version would be great!

We all miss Baka Baku. We just can’t sell enough to go into production again. I guess he’s hard to find. They were all loved a lot.
Thanks for visiting.
Hi..I had come across a Baka Baku…I want to know what the trunk is suppose to do..I bought It at a thrift store still in its boxes with many many price tags…27.00, 15.00, 12.00, 10.00, and I got it for 4.95. It said broke on the box too..what was its original price and what does the nose/trunk do? This thing is amazing..my family is big on all mythology and you should make more!!! But, its suppose to be tiger striped
I’m really Glad that your product made its way to me..it will be treasured in our family and not thrown away or donated..Baka Baku is here to stay!! Thank you Soo much!!!

Wow, others have looked for a Baka Baku, you got lucky. It’s been a long time. I think the original price was $25.00 retail. The trunk had no particular function. He is part lion and part elephant. He ate bad dreams.
Enjoy Baka Baku.
I have an old Tucker Turtle which has always been one of my fav stuffies. I recall a long time ago (over 15 years ago) being in the, now defunct, Ecology Store at a local mall and seeing a giant Tucker Turtle. Came out of his shell and looked exactly like Tucker only about 2-3 feet in diameter with same proportions. Mary Meyer Toys make a giant one of him or was it a facimile by the store?
We made a few giant Tucker Turtles. Little Tucker was so popular, people asked for a large one. We produced them briefly. He was quite a site. Thanks for visiting Mary Meyer.
I found Tucker turtle many years ago and he and several other of his brethren found a place in the homes of various friends and family.
I received a Giant Tucker Turtle as a gift some years ago and I am happy to have him in my home with Tucker and Ed (a second Tucker I inherited from my grandpa). Thank you for having made such awesome friends.
Leon
We’re glad you are such a big fan of Tucker’s. He was one of Steven Meyer’s first designs years ago. Tucker even won a Parent’s Choice Award.
Thanks for sharing.
My son will be 24 years old next month. When he was a toddler, his favorite toy was your Turner Turtle, given to him by his grandmother for comfort through an operation. He took Turner with him on a trip to Nantucket, MA and was holding him by the yellow ribbon around his neck… when he suddenly realized he was still holding the ribbon, but Turner was gone. We never found Turner, and even after all these years, it’s a sad story we never forget. That’s how much it meant to my son.
Wow, that long ago, it had to be Tucker Turtle. You can see him posted on our facebook page. Also, someone is selling him on ebay. I’ll send you the link.
Tucker was one of my first designs. Mary Meyer was my Grandmother. He won a Parent’s Choice Award in about 1990.
I’d love to know if it was Tucker (Turner). Thanks for taking me down memory lane.
I desperately need a Darby dragon flip flop replpacement!! You still make the line but I fear Darby is discontinued as I have searched far and wide; can you help?
Hi Sarah,
Our search of the archives turned up one Darby in perfect condition. What a surprise. He went extinct in 2008. Please call toll free 888-758-2327 and you can purchase this last Darby. Nancy will be happy to help you after 10AM this morning.
Thanks for visiting Mary Meyer.
I’ve just acquired a “Green Mountain Bear” made in 1993. Can you tell me more about him? How was this bear originally dressed?
Do your bears become collectables?
To answer your question regarding your Green Mountain Bear, I would need to email a photo of which one you have. They are very much collectable. Many people collected them in the 90′s when lots of folks started bear collections. He may have been dressed. We sold them dressed and undressed.
Thanks,
When my husband and I were in college he bought me Schatzie Schnauzer. Schatzie is now our toddlers FAVORITE toy and must go everywhere with her. Is there anyway to buy a new one? I know it’s been discontinued but we all love it so much….. Thank you.
Now I’m curious. Can you send us a photo of Schatzie? I really doubt we can find one, but we’ll take a look. We could also post the photo on our “Mary Meyer Around the World” page. We like to show off well loved Mary Meyer toys.
Do you have a stuffed animal hospital? My daughter was given a Mary Meyer bunny back in 2006 and it has been loved very much. I would like to get him “fixed up” if that is something you do. Please let me know. Thank you.
Kristen
Hi Kristen,
It all depends on the injury to your toy. We will do what we can to fix it up. Five years of loving may have just given him a well worn look. If it’s a matter of stitching him up, I am sure a little time in our hospital would do him some good. Can you send a photo? Then I’ll give you the address to the surgical center.
Hello,
I am looking for a camel that I bought my son when he was born in 2002. I have searched for a replacement but have been unable to find it. The camel we have is yellow with a red trim.
Hi Dennis,
I think the camel is from our Cotton Club series. We can look for one tomorrow when business opens. It may be a challenge.
Thanks for checking in.
In 1993 I bought a Baka Baku – does your company still make this product? Ours has been through a bit and I would like to get another one. Thank you
Hi Jill,
Wow, that’s a character from the past. We no longer have a single Baka Baku. He sure was unique and popular. Thanks for visiting though.
